Stair Lifts in Albany & Hudson Valley

Compact and heavy duty Indy stair lifts

A Stair Lift Keeps Every Floor Within Reach

For many homeowners there comes a point when the staircase turns from a convenience into a daily hurdle, whether that means reaching the bedroom, getting down to the basement or simply coming in from outside. A stair lift, sometimes called a chair lift or stairlift, removes that hurdle without changing the house.

Nationwide Lifts of New York fits Indy stair lifts for homeowners from Glens Falls and Albany down through the Hudson Valley. Choose the slim Indy Pinnacle for a narrow stairway or the Indy XL when a larger seat and a higher weight rating are needed.

Indy Pinnacle Compact Stair Lift

  • Keeps working through a power outage

Stair Lifts Installed in Albany, Glens Falls and Poughkeepsie

When climbing the stairs starts to feel risky, a stair lift restores safe access to the upper floor at a fraction of the cost of other options. Nationwide Lifts of New York fits Indy stair lifts in homes around Albany, Glens Falls and Poughkeepsie, typically in one appointment and with no building work.

The track mounts on the steps themselves, so walls and banisters are left alone. Rechargeable batteries mean the lift still runs if the power fails, and built-in sensors halt the chair when they detect an obstacle.

What to Expect From Your Installation

  1. Home assessment. A consultant measures the staircase and asks about the rider.
  2. Fixed quote. You get a written price for the recommended model.
  3. Fitting day. The track is secured to the steps and the chair is set up, normally within a few hours.
  4. Handover. You try the lift with us and learn the controls before we leave.

Stair Lift Prices and Lifespan

What you pay for a stair lift comes down to the length of the staircase, the model and any extras such as a powered folding rail. Straight flights cost the least. Because every staircase differs, we price each job after a free measure. To help with planning, read how to choose a chair lift for stairs and how long stair lifts last.

When a Different Lift Makes More Sense

A stair lift is right for someone who can sit and step on and off the seat. A rider who stays in a wheelchair needs a wheelchair lift for entry steps or a home elevator between floors, and the two-stop LUMA shaftless elevator suits homes with little room to spare. We compare the choices in home elevator vs stair lift.

Common Questions About Stair Lifts

Can other people still use the stairs?

Yes. The seat, arms and footrest fold up when the lift is parked, and the rail takes up only a few inches at the edge of the steps.

Does a stair lift damage the staircase or the walls?

No. The rail is fixed to the stair treads with brackets and the walls are not touched. If the lift is removed later, only small screw holes are left behind.

Can a stair lift go on either side of the stairs?

In most homes, yes. We recommend a side based on the layout at the top and bottom of the staircase and where doors and hallways are.

Who is a stair lift suitable for?

A stair lift suits someone who can sit upright and get on and off the seat safely. A wheelchair user who needs to stay in the chair is better served by a platform lift or a home elevator.
